The Fourth Plain Traffic Safety Project in Vancouver,
WA is approximately 7 miles in length, extending from Interstate
5 east to 117th Avenue. A traffic safety fair was held on
October 7, 2004 to kick-off the project.

has the highest transit use in the city that serves
several low to moderate-income neighborhoods with a large
population of residents that speak English as a second
language.

The average vehicle traffic load ranges from approximately
14,250 to 28,400 vehicles per day.

927 collisions occurred
during the period between January 2000 and December
2002 (nearly one collision per day).

One and a half
percent (1.5%) of these collisions involved fatal or
disabling injuries and four percent (4%) were alcohol related.

The majority of crashes occur during daylight hours
(74%) and during clear weather (63%).

Crashes were
evenly distributed throughout the year, although
the month of October had the highest number of collisions.

Crashes were evenly distributed during the week with
Sunday having the lowest number of crashes and Friday
the highest.

The peak hours for crashes are 4:00 P.M. and
5:00 P.M.
