Billboards encouraging safe driving behavior installed on Rainier Ave. S. (5/07)
As part of the campaign to decrease fatal and disabling collisions along Rainier, SDOT and the WA Traffic Safety Commission are installing billboards urging drivers to ‘slow down.’ SDOT developed the billboards to encourage a desired action (slow down) and illustrate the consequence of not doing so. Fourth Plain collisions drop 14% within corridor (3/07)
Results of a two-year community effort to increase traffic safety on Fourth Plain Boulevard show a 19% drop in fatal/disabling and injury collisions and a 14% decrease in total collisions. Read more

Program aims to Rainier corridor safer (4/06)
About 25 people, including one dressed as a chicken, walked across the intersection of Seattle's Rainier Avenue South and South Alaska Street to highlight what the pro-pedestrian group Feet First called "poor driver behavior" in the busy Rainier corridor. Read more

Results show significant improvement on Cross Kitsap Corridor (10/05)
With two year’s project data now available overall crashes are down on the Cross Kitsap Traffic Safety Corridor by 2% with fatal and disabling collisions down by 13% and alcohol related fatal and disabling collisions down by 50%. Read more

Centerline rumble strips installed on State Route 14 to increase safety (6/29/05)
As part of its commitment to improved traffic safety on State Route 14, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) recently installed centerline rumble strips along 15 miles of the Cape Horn Traffic Safety Corridor. Read more
